One word that defines him: Determined

Prior to coming to SparkBase, Pierce (we call him that because Doug2 seems so…wrong) was the Chief Software Architect of DimpleDough, Inc., a cloud-computing card management platform for top-tier retailers and banks. At Datavantage, a subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc., Pierce helped architect and manage development of the XStore Java POS, managed development of Relate, an integrated stored value, loyalty and CRM system and oversaw technology and integration between Relate, Balance and XBR, a leading loss prevention tool.

Now he referees PS3 tournaments among our developers while scheming of ways to deliver a more robust and secure experience for our resellers and their merchants.

Why he loves what he does at SparkBase…
I love working in an exciting environment, with a great team and helping support the delivery of world-class software as a service solutions. I am not sure I ever think I’m great at something, since I am always trying to improve, learn more and ask “what if?” in the pursuit of my job. I judge my success in how the success of the team and the company for its customers, employees and shareholders and I always believe there is room for improvement. My nearly 20 years of experience in systems administration and development help me mentor, organize and manage the tech teams. I love getting my hands dirty and helping optimizing code and systems performance and I enjoy reading and reviewing code, which allows me to helps me share my experience and mentor.
